Want an adventure?  Then take a road trip!  There are several advantages to taking a road trip, although there are several concerns, as well, such as making certain you don’t run out of petrol and don’t suffer any major vehicle break downs.  However, despite these issues, the advantages of a road trip far outweigh them. The first advantage is that it’s flexible.  If you have the time to drive to your holiday destination, you may be able to take the time to stop along the way.  If you see an attraction or other location you want to visit while driving, you can stop and check it out.  Of course, you have to be careful not to stop too many times or else you may find yourself arriving at your destination later than you want to. Another option is that you can pack more.  With airlines, bus lines, and trains, you have a limited amount of luggage you can take, plus you have to pay for your checked baggage.  If you take a car, however, you can take as many bags as you can fit in the boot or back seat (depending on how many people are on the trip with you).  This also means you can buy more souvenirs and purchase larger items. You also won’t have to rent a car when you arrive.  While you may not have planned on renting a car, having your own will still have you some money.  You won’t have to pay for public transportation.  Of course, petrol is still an issue. If you really want to see the countryside, several different cities, and more, a road trip is exactly what you want.  It gives you a lot more freedom than other forms of transportation, although it may take longer.  However, for those who have the time, a road trip can provide a great holiday.

Travelling is a lot of fun, but it can be frustrating if you are robbed.  While you would like to think that any hotel staff is going to be completely honest and won’t take anything you leave in your room, you never really know who has access to your hotel room when you’re not there.  In fact, the cleaning crew may leave the door to your room open while they run back to the storage room for an extra towel or something, and during that time, anyone could conceivably get in.  Here are some things to keep in mind while staying in a hotel. First, and most obvious, don’t leave valuables lying around.  Put your camera, laptop, iPod, and other expensive electronics in a drawer or in one of your bags if you aren’t taken them with you.  Don’t leave any money out on the nightstand, either.  If you’ve purchased gifts, you may want to put them in your luggage as well or at least cover any large shopping bags with dirty clothes or the like.  Put away all of your jewellery, too. Next, always make certain to look through the peep hole before opening your hotel room door.  You never know who exactly is going to be knocking.  This is especially important if you’re travelling alone or are not expecting anyone to come to your room.  If your door doesn’t have a peep hole, keep the security chain on the door when opening it.  If there’s no chain, loudly ask who is at the door before you open it.  Don’t let anyone in just because they claim to be with the hotel staff, either.  For example, if you didn’t order room service, don’t open the door for someone claiming to be delivering food.  Before you go to bed or get in the shower, make certain all the locks are properly locked so no one can walk in on you. These tips will help ensure that you have a safe and enjoyable trip while staying in a hotel.

Travelling is stressful enough, but when you add in a young child, your travelling issues double.  There are many different things to keep in mind when you travel with a young child so that your trip will be both enjoyable and kid-friendly. First, be aware that you’ll have to pack more luggage.  You’ll need nappies, baby bottles, and other things like baby powder.  Most of these items will need to go in your carry-on bag so you can get to them quickly while travelling.  That means you may have to check an extra bag or take larger luggage to accommodate everything. You also need to check with your lodging to see if they have cots or a baby bed available.  Some do, but some do not, and if they don’t, you may need to make other arrangements.  If you’re renting a car and don’t want to take a car seat with you, you may need to make arrangements with the rental company.  Some actually include car seats if requested. You may also need to adjust your sightseeing activities if you’re travelling with a baby.  You won’t be able to do as much since you’ll have to feed and change your baby and do activities during which he or she can nap.  Going to events like the theatre or a concert may not be possible, either, if your baby is fussy.  You don’t want his or her crying to interrupt the event, after all. While travelling with a baby can be a bit stressful, it can also be very enjoyable.  Travelling with your family is fun, but it does mean adjusting how you travel just a bit.
