Preparing for a trip can be exciting, and you may not get enough sleep the night before you travel. However, if you’re going by train, plane, or bus, you will have the chance to sleep during transit. If you’re planning on napping, here are some things to keep in mind. On a plane, pillows and blankets may be available. However, on a bus ride or on the train, they may not be. If you’re travelling by either of these methods, you might want to take your own small pillow along with you. If space is a problem, you can purchase an inflatable pillow that you blow up, then deflate when you need to store it. You may also want to take a CD or MP3 player and a pair of headphones with you. Sometimes, others around you will be talking or doing something else distracting, and you’ll need to be able to cut out all noise. This is especially true if you’re a light sleeper. However, be certain you don’t turn up your music too high. Doing so may disturb those sitting near you. You might also want to take ear plugs to cancel out noise if you don’t want to listen to music. You can also take medication designed to help you sleep. This may even be necessary if you have a fear of flying or get motion sickness easily. Just be certain you know how the medication will affect you. You don’t want to be ill or fall into a sleep so deep that you miss a transfer or your destination.
