Everyone instantly recognises the shape of the Eiffel Tower, one of Paris’s greatest landmarks.  It dominates the city’s landscape during both the day and night, and all visitors have to marvel at the structure.  Even Parisians take the time to stop and paint or photograph the famous building.  If you’re visiting the City of Lights, you should certainly take the time to visit the tower, not just look at it from your hotel room. That’s if you are lucky enough to book into one of the Paris hotels with the spectacular view of the Eiffel tower.

The Eiffel Tower is actually used as a radio tower, but its main function is as a tourist attraction.  When reaching the tower, visitors will find several small carts and other locals selling various items and snacks, plus a small museum featuring some of the original mechanical devices that were once used in the tower.  You’ll also find the lifts.  There’s one in each foot of the tower, and they all take you up to the first and second floors.

On the first floor of the tower, the widest, you’ll find Altitude 95, a restaurant that provides a great meal with a nice view.  If you go on up to the second floor, however, you’ll find more expensive dining at the Jules Verne.  The restaurant has recently hired a new chef and introduced several new dishes.

The final floor, the third, offers the best view of the city.  This observation deck is a very popular place to visit, especially for tourists, and there’s often a line for the elevators.  However, it’s well worth the wait.

Las Vegas is the gambling capital of the United States, and some would even say the world.  Millions flock to the Las Vegas Strip every year to spend money in the casinos and check out the amazing hotels.  Hotels on the Strip are like nothing else—you can visit a recreation of Paris, step back into Roman times, and much more.  However, is it worth staying on the Strip? Well, that depends on several factors.  If you’re visiting Vegas on the weekend, you’ll find that hotel prices are much higher than they are during the week, and the hotels in Las Vegas on the Strip are going to be especially high.  Weekends are, however, considered Vegas’ peak time since that’s when many people visit the city.  If you head to Vegas during the week, you may be pleasantly surprised to see the same hotel room for half the cost. What’s even more, hotel rooms off the Strip are even cheaper during the week.  It’s possible to get a great hotel room for less than $50 off the Strip!  Chances are you’ll also have a more peaceful stay at that hotel since fewer people will be there during the week and it’s off the Strip. But wait…if it’s off the Strip, how will I get to check out all the cool shows that are offered at the Luxor and all the other Strip hotels?  Well, you can always rent a car, but even that’s not always necessary.  Many of the hotels located off the Strip offer shuttles to and from the Strip hotels.  A quick five-minute ride will have you right in the middle of all the shows and sights.  This allows you to see everything you want to see in Vegas while still saving money.  It’s a win-win, something that can’t be said for the many gambling games you’re sure to come across!

A trip to Toronto offers many different things to see and do.  While you may not be interested in all of these sights, they will give you an idea of what major activities the city holds and which places you should visit to get the real Toronto experience. The city’s most well-known landmark is the 553 metre-tall CN Tower.  This tower is the world’s second tallest freestanding structure and serves as a transmission tower for multiple radio and television stations and as an observation platform. There are multiple Toronto hotels close to the CN Tower including the Radisson Hotel.  The Rogers Centre (previously called the SkyDome) is near the tower.  It was the first sporting arena in the world to have a fully retractable roof, and the Centre currently serves as the home of the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Argonauts.  Most sporting teams are housed in the nearby Air Canada Centre, including the Toronto Raptors, the Maple Leafs, and the Toronto Rock. Not interested in sports?  Toronto’s City Hall provides an historic look at Toronto.  The Old City Hall, too, provides visitors with an idea of what historic Toronto looked like.  Near City Hall is Nathan Phillips Square.  This area features artwork displays, concerts, a farmers’ market, and many other events.  During the winter, the square’s reflecting pool is transformed into a skating rink for some outdoor fun. Toronto’s newest square, the Yonge-Dundas Square, features a huge shopping mall.  The mall is so large that the Toronto subway actually has two stops in the mall—one at the north end and one at the south.  Shoppers won’t want to miss this gigantic mall, especially near the holidays. If you’re looking for some place to relax outdoors, the Toronto Islands, or simply the “Islands,” are accessible via ferry.  This car-free area features Centreville, an amusement park, and several public parks. In addition to these sights, you’ll also find the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Royal Ontario Museum, the Ontario Science Centre, and much more in Toronto.  You’ll need several days just to see the things that interest you and a week or more to see it all.

Downtown Miami is home to a number of museums, including the Historical Museum of Southern Florida, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Frost Art Museum, and the Miami Children’s Museum.  If you have kids along with you, the children’s museum is an excellent educational opportunity.  It features many different interactive exhibits that teach children about art, community, and culture.

If you’d rather spend the day outdoors, you can check out the Miami MetroZoo, the Miami Seaquarium, or Jungle Island, an animal theme park that features Hercules, a 900 pound liger (a cross between a lion and a tiger).  Miami also has a number of parks, including Bicentennial Park, Bayfront Park, the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, and Watson Island.

Berlin is an exciting city to visit because it has long been the center of the action for all of Europe. If you are planning a trip to Berlin, here are some of the essential sites.

Of course, no trip to Berlin would be complete without a stop at the Brandenburg Gate, the main symbol of the city. It is the entry to Berlin’s famous boulevard Unter den Linden. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall, the gate has restored at a cost of $6 million (paid by private donation). The gate is closed to vehicle traffic but the surrounding area (Pariser Platz) is now a cobblestoned pedestrian zone.

Those who are fascinated with life in Berlin during the Cold War should visit Mauermuseum at Checkpoint Charlie. This is where East and West Germany met. Other essential historical sites are the Reichstag, once the headquarters of Nazi Germany. Likewise, there is the Judisches Museum that covers the history of the Jews in Berlin and Topography of Terror, an open-air site documenting the Nazi regime’s atrocities.

That’s not to say that Berlin is all doom and gloom. On the contrary: The city has been rebuilt into a beautiful city that is a pleasure to explore. Stroll along the banks of the Spree to see historic buildings such as the Nikolaiviertel, Schloss Charlottenberg, Schloss Bellevue and Palast der Republik. Continue on to discover parks such as Tiergarten Park and Treptower Park. Do not miss the Spreewald, a biosphere 50 miles southeast of town.

Berlin has long been known for its nightlife, as evidenced most notably by the film, “Cabaret”. The Kit Kat Club of that film still exists (to enter, patrons must dress in 20s clothing) as do other, still raunchier, venues. These are definitely not places to take the children.

You are encouraged to take the kids to Museum fur Naturkunde, where they will enjoy the natural history exhibits, especially the dinosaur skeletons and fossils. They will also enjoy the Musikinstrumenten-Museum with many unusual musical instruments.

Berlin is a city of culture and you should be sure to visit Museumsinsel (”Museum Island”, which has five must-see sites:  Pergamon-Museum, which displays ancient Greek, Middle-Eastern and Islamic art: the Altes Museum, which houses Egyptian antiquities; the Alte Nationalgalerie, with its early 19th century German art; the Bode-Museum that houses sculpture and Byzantine art; and the Neues Museum, which will display even more Egyptian antiquities when it opens in 2209

The British Museum was built two and a half centuries ago by King George II. It can be called the record of history of the human race and the planet. It has collections from all over the world. The history of ancient civilizations is documented and exhibited there. Objects, numbering in millions from all the continents assembled there are priceless. Trafalgar Square was built in memory of the sea battle of Trafalgar against the French and the Spanish. The battle took place in 1805. Even though the British commander of the fleet Admiral Nelson was killed in the battle the British won it. The Admiral was mainly responsible for the victory. A thankful nation built a memorial to the hero and the battle. The famous Nelson column and beautiful fountains can be seen there. This place is considered to be the centre of London.

No trip to the USA will be complete until and unless one visits Boston. This city, along with its rich and diversified history has lots in store for the tourists. The capital of Norway, Oslo has a rich history - dating back over a thousand years. The city was burnt down in 1624, was shifted westwards and renamed Christiania.
